After starting Lloyd Brown approximately 6 years ago, I’ve made the decision to close it. I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on how, in late 2019, I began to base my business on one part of my identity and I don’t think it was the right thing for me to do. I’m proud of my Anishinaabe and Susquehanna ancestry and I choose to live by the teachings I’ve received to be the best future ancestor I can be. But my business should not be focused on that as it results in me, a reconnecting white person, centering my voice and experience and taking up space I shouldn’t be. I apologize for my ignorance and I’m sorry I didn’t recognize this earlier. I’ve done some difficult learning, with much more to come I’m sure, and the decision to close Lloyd Brown stems from the learning and reflection I’ve done. I want to thank everyone I've interacted with through Lloyd Brown for the kindness I have been shown and express my gratitude for the incredible people I have had the opportunity to connect with. ♥️ Miigwetch
